Michael L. Schelling, CPA, MT
Partner
With more than 13 years of public accounting experience, Michael specializes in partnership, S corporation, and exempt organization taxation. He received his Master of Professional Accountancy from the University of South Dakota and his Master of Taxation degree from the University of Denver.
Michael’s hobbies including bass fishing and volunteering at various not-for-profit organizations in the Sioux Falls area. Michael is currently serving as the President of HorsePower, a therapeutic riding public charity, and the Treasurer of Survivors Joining For Hope, an organization that assists families who have lost a loved one to suicide.
Bryan R. Hakeman, CPA
Partner
Bryan is a founding partner of Dakota CPA with more than 8 years of public accounting experience. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Accountancy and Business Administration from Augustana University in Sioux Falls. Bryan specializes servicing clients in a number of industries including Agriculture, Trucking, Construction, and Real Estate.
Bryan takes great pride in getting to know his clients and making sure their expectations and needs are exceeded. His favorite things to do outside of work are spending time with his wife and daughters, riding motorcycle, golfing and investing in real estate.
Tony D. Ourada, CPA
Staff Accountant
Tony started a career in accounting one year ago in December 2019 after spending eight years in financial planning and financial analysis. His work at Dakota CPA includes partnership and S Corporation tax planning, bookkeeping, and payroll for our clients. He received Bachelor of Sciences degrees in Mathematics and Economics from South Dakota State University with an emphasis in Accounting. He obtained his CPA licensure in August 2021 and is working towards his Master’s of Business Administration degree from the University of Sioux Falls.
In his free time, Tony enjoys spending time with family, friends, and his wife Kayla, and their puppy Willow. They enjoy traveling, cooking, and investing in rental properties.
Josh Brown
Staff Accountant
Josh joined the Dakota CPA team in January 2021 after spending just over 4 years as the Controller for Eldermark Software. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Jamestown College, double majoring in Accounting and Financial Planning & Wealth Management. Josh works with a variety of clients, completing tax planning, bookkeeping and payroll services.
When not in the office, Josh enjoys weight lifting, researching new investments, and spending time with family and friends.
Jessica Huber
Staff Accountant
Jessica joined the Dakota CPA team in November 2022 and comes with 14 years of accounting experience including serving as an accountant, controller, and auditor in her previous roles. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Accountancy from Northern State University in Aberdeen. Jessica enjoys working with small businesses in a variety of industries to assist with all their accounting and tax needs.
In her free time, Jessica enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys, biking, camping, and reading.
Charley Illg
Staff Accountant
Charley is a 2020 Graduate of Mount Marty College where he was awarded Magna Cum Laude with a double major in Accounting & Business. He was named “Best Exemplary of the Hospitality Core Value” by the faculty and students of Mount Marty College, an award given to the student who best exemplifies openness to others and promotes an environment in which all are valued and respected. Outside of the classroom, he was a two-time Team Captain of the Lancers’ Baseball Team. He is currently enrolled at the Beacom School of Business, pursuing his Master’s of Professional Accountancy & CPA license.
During his free time, Charley enjoys designing logos, videography, website development, exercising, boating, and watching the Minnesota Vikings.
